The demure look seen all around is getting a new twist. This time around, the style is less stately, and more about showing your eccentric side.
Fashion designers have been listening to 70s classic Three Times a Lady on repeat recently – ladylike style has been a perennial, sprouting up season after season. This time around, however, things are a little different – instead of a prim and proper look for the lady, she’s now showing her quirky side.
This is a trend that all art lovers will appreciate. Prints are strong. For evidence, look to the likes of Chloé, where snakeskin gave a demure blouse more of an edge, and Givenchy, where pencil skirts were mixed with sweatshirt shapes emblazoned with Betty Page images to give a cheeky wink. Polka dots, meanwhile, brought their deliciously light-hearted mood to Stella McCartney’s and Diane von Furstenberg’s collections, and the floral prints at Jil Sander contrasted beautifully with the 50s couture shapes.
